Watershed management
andterritory

Fresh water is a precious and increasingly imperiled resource. By 2050, it is estimated that more than half of the world population (52%) will live in water-stressed regions. Watersheds, or areas of land which drain streams and precipitation to a common body of water, are crucial to protecting fresh water resources, including in areas where Danone Waters operates. Yet today, many watersheds are threatened by unsustainable farming practices, urban development and other factors. Healthy watersheds require coordination and joint management between all the stakeholders who depend on them, from local communities and farmers to public utilities and private companies.

Danone Ecosystem has worked together with local stakeholders to develop solutions for integrated, sustainable watershed management. Based on these experiences, we have developed a water protection methodology that can be replicated and adapted to local situations.
