“I am a trained General Practitioner, having worked for about 20 years. My work focuses on driving implementation of healthcare innovations. Traditionally, in the Netherlands we call the cancer care path “the cancer highway”. You’re in the fast lane: first, you feel something, and in two days time you have a lethal prognosis. It’s a kind of roller coaster. With the project, we try to slow down the roller coaster. I want to encourage general practitioners to be open to multistakeholder healthcare innovations. The role of the patient is changing; they are more informed, and our role is to guide them through this information.”
