The end of the EU common agricultural policy’s quota system in 2015 created a series of challenges for French milk producers. To help producers navigate these challenges, Horizon 2015 supports farmers in optimizing their costs while also offering programs to encourage best practices.
Milk producers were strongly impacted by the end of the common agricultural policy’s quotas in 2015, sometimes to business-threatening levels. With the support of the Danone Ecosystem Fund, Danone France and its local partner, L’institut de l’Elevage, the Horizon 2015 project is strengthening farms’ cost optimization through the implementation of an audit system, creating a breeding institute, and delivering entrepreneurship programs that encourage the sharing and implementation of best practices among farmers.
In improving farm conditions and supporting milk-producing businesses across France, Horizon 2015 is helping Danone to secure sustainable sourcing into the future while empowering French dairy farmers.
The project is now independent and has been handed over in 2015.
