To preserve elderly people’s autonomy in Spain, ActiVIDA offers appropriate physical training and individual nutritional advice and follow up through dedicated physical educators and nutritional advisors in retirement homes.
Spain’s ageing population is posing new challenges to society, but due to the global crisis, healthcare budgets have been cut. Nutricia wishes to raise wareness about the role of appropriate nutrition in ageing well and maintaining autonomy. With the support of the Danone Ecosystem Fund, Nutricia Spain and Siel Bleu, the branded combined offer ActiVIDA is assessing elderlies’ health and wellbeing, in order to support them with adapted physical training as well as individual nutritional advice in retirement homes. The progress of each elder is monitored by physical educators recruited and trained by Siel Bleu. They adapt their pieces of advice according to each person’s progress and situation.
ActiVIDA creates jobs for physical educators and contributes to the health, autonomy and quality of life of elderly people, slowing down mental illness and preventing malnutrition and accidents. Nutricia meanwhile offers a new service to its retirement home clients, creating differentiation and developing new relationships with health care professionals.
The project is now independent and has been handed over in 2017.
