Barcelona, 1st of June 2017. The company Aguas Danone presented ReNueva, a project that has been set up in collaboration with Ecoembes, the non-profit environmental organization that promotes circular economy through the recycling of domestic packaging; the Trinijove Foundation, an institution that works since 1985 to support the people at risk of social exclusion; and the Danone Ecosystem Fund, which strengthens and develops the activities of the Danone Ecosystem partners. It is a pioneering project in the field of recycling focused on the waste coming from the Away-From-Home channels.
Specifically, the ReNueva project will be based on three pillars. On one hand, the construction of two selection and separation plants of packaging with the objective to increase the recycling rates of those packaging, with the highest quality standards, while creating jobs for people at risk of social exclusion. The plant construction is planned for 2018. On the other hand, a circular economy school in waste management will be created to empower and train people at risk of social exclusion in recycling. In order to increase the volume of waste collected and raise awareness of the importance of recycling, a mobile APP will be launched to promote the recycling of packaging towards consumers from the Away-From-Home channel. Finally, education and public awareness of the importance of recycling and the fight against littering will be an essential task for the project as a whole.
The company Aguas Danone Spain, with the support of Ecoembes, the Danone Écosystème Fund and the Fundació Trinijove, is taking take a giant step in following its engagement to nature, committing itself to circular economy with a project centered on innovation, recycling and support to one of the community that most need it.
